how do i remove tile grout after it has cured?

Posted by admin on March 12th, 2010 and filed under tiling courses | 3 Comments »

the other day i was using grout between the kitchen table that i had just tiled. During the course of grouting i was called away and the grout cured without me finishing the job. how do i get rid of the grout so i can start the grout process over again?

Hardware stores sell a cheap tool designed for grout removal. Just be careful to keep the tool on the grout as it may scratch on the tile.

You can use sand paper, a very coarse piece of sand paper, and also you can use a very small chisel. The fastest way I know is to use a small routing tool. Hope that helps!

The ‘cheap tool" is called a "grout saw" It looks sort of like a toothbrush with abrasive grit where the bristles would be. You can also get attachments for a Dremel tool or Fein Multimaster to remove grout with power assistance.
